Corporate Lawyer, Eyimofe Atake Becomes Ojoye Iwere of Warri Kingdom

All roads led to Warri, last week, as Chief Eyimofe Atake, a corporate lawyer of high repute was installed as Ojoye Iwere  of Warri Kingdom by his royal majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, Olu of Warri at Aghofen Ajamimogha, Warri, Delta State as part of activities marking the 2nd coronation anniversary of the monarch.

 In a vibrant display of culture, tradition, and unity, the 2nd Coronation Anniversary “Uge Oyo Ekoro” of Ogiame Atuwatse III, the revered Olu of Warri Kingdom, took place at the historic Olu’s Palace in Warri. The event was a remarkable culmination of five days of festivities, commemorating the coronation of Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR. The day’s celebrations were graced by a multitude of dignitaries, captivating performances, and the installation of new chiefs, reaffirming the Kingdom’s rich heritage.

One of the pivotal moments of the day was the installation of four new Chiefs (Ojoyes) into the Warri Kingdom. Each chief was bestowed with a unique title, symbolizing their responsibility to uphold the Kingdom’s traditions and values. The new chiefs and their titles are Chief Eyimofe Atake (SAN) – The Tolugbogwa of Warri Kingdom, Alias Uruengho, Chief Elijah Temile – The Olujuwa of Warri Kingdom, Alias Okpeyo,Chief Walter Omatsola Boyo – The Usẹn Olu etẹ of Warri Kingom, Alias Akature and Chief Dr. Anthony Oris Erewa – The Oritsuwa of Warri Kingdom, Alias Erujeje

The 65 year old perfect gentleman, one of Africa’s wizards of style, is now the Tolugbowa of Warri Kingdom.

His late father, Hon. Justice Franklin Ortise-Mueyiwa Atake held a titleof Aboludero of Warri Kingdom,he was conferred with the title by His Majesty Erejuwa II in 1983 and held the title until he passed away in 2003.

 The late Justice Atake was one of the originators of resource control management, a dogged fighter for the rights of iteskiris and the people of Niger Delta.

Like a chip of the old block, many surely have good testimonies about the younger Atake too.

Eyimofe Atake knows law like the back of his hands and he has demonstrated so much brilliance that many of his mates and counterparts consult him in knotty legal situations.

The Delta State-born lawyer is also a delight to watch in courtrooms, the brilliant lawyer and solicitor, who has many firsts in his kitty, by virtue of his rare accomplishments, is one of the few of Nigeria’s corporate lawyers who can rub shoulders with other top lawyers around the globe.

He has handled and argued contentious cases, especially in the field of maritime/admiralty law, constitutional, and commercial law at all levels of the courts, including contested appeals, both in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Some of those contested cases are landmark decisions.

For the younger Atake,it is a joy for him to be a chief of the Warri kingdom. He became a silk (SAN),in 1999 at the age of 41, one of the youngest ever, only 16 years after his call to the bar.
